Notice of availability for public comment on proposed pavement and infrastructure improvements within a 500-year floodplain at Kayenta Airport (0V7), Kayenta, Arizona.
September 12, 2024,
The Kayenta Township, as sponsor of Kayenta Airport, intends to enhance the usability of the existing access road to the Airport. The improvements would make the access road a permanent fixture to enhance operational safety and access to the airport. The access road improvements would encompass a footprint of approximately 24 feet in width and 2,300 feet in length. The improvements would have no anticipated impact on the floodplain’s natural functions. The project area has been previously disturbed by the construction of the existing pavement development and previous construction and maintenance activities. The functions of the existing floodplain would not be impacted as a result of the proposed project.
Due to the Township seeking Federal Aviation Administration funding and approval of federal actions occurring within a 500-year floodplain, a public notice and opportunity for comment is being provided. The public may submit comments on the proposed projects and their potential effects on the 500-year floodplain for a period of thirty (30) days following the publication of this notice.
All comments received during the review period will be taken into consideration prior to the FAA making an environmental determination.
Please contact comment@kayentatownship-nsn.gov for questions or additional information regarding the proposed project.
